Patriotic Explosions & Other Stuff
Our 4th of July Weekend
Some families do a cookout on July 4th weekend. Some families have pool parties. We decided we’d just kinda do a mishmash of everything, because, you know, we’re weird.
The weekend began with the usual morning craziness at home, followed by a run to the local playground and picnic area with our hot dogs and brats to grill. While there we encountered this sign:
The larger figure on the sign looks like a two-headed monster, maybe a new breed of sasquatch. So we obeyed the sign and kept a good eye out for a two-headed sasquatch. Fortunately none showed up. Zizi played some guitar as well, serenading the new baby to sleep.
A massive thunderstorm ended our playground excursion a little early, but we managed to fill up on hot dogs, brats, dried kiwi, veggie chips, and juice. A yummy time was had by all. The rain finally let up right before bedtime too, so we made patriotic explosions!
Later on in the weekend we had an adventure shopping trip, during which we went to Hobby Lobby and got bandannas for all the children. We also found an octopus toilet paper holder. That was…different.
We crowned the weekend by viewing a wildly expensive house during their Realtor’s “open house” time on Sunday. So many bedrooms, so many balconies, so much counter space! There was a balcony over the living room for the lord of the house to view his domain, and a curved staircase with night lighting. There was also a giant playroom that the children didn’t want to leave.
All in all, a good weekend. That octopus may haunt my nightmares though…
