The Saga of the Diaper Bag

The Saga of the Diaper Bag

Part 1

When we were at the Sorghum Festival I signed up for a complimentary massage, and I finally got to go last month. They said that my left shoulder was in such bad shape that my shoulder blade was swollen. badly. That figures. I carry the baby, my purse, the diaper bag, and occasionally my laptop on that arm so that I can grab errant toddlers with my right hand.

I’ve known that I needed a new diaper bag for a while and I’ve been designing a backpack-style diaper bag in my head for a few months. This was the push I needed to get started. I used the fabric that was leftover from the kids’ Halloween costumes and lunch boxes. I was concentrating so hard on the measurements that I forgot to take pictures of the cutting out process.

As if designing and sewing my own backpack wasn’t enough of a challenge I decided that it needs some custom embroidery. It’s going to be the thing that I carry instead of all those bags, so I do want it to be pretty and to reflect something of my personality.

The measuring and cutting out was all that I could do the first day. I’ll have to work on it more after I get some sleep.
